The thing about Manila kids is that almost every one of them know each other in some way. The friend of a friend of a friend of someone’s boyfriend, one time competitors during a sports tournament, someone’s sister’s classmate, et cetera. Literally everyone has some sort of weird connection.
The thing about being a probinsya kid on the other hand, is that 85% of the people I know are either back home or are in far-flung universities. So it gets pretty disheartening when it seems like the friends you’ve made in college have loads of acquaintances around campus and you’re stuck knowing that your own best friends - and the majority of people you actually know - are miles away.
Which is why the first thing I did this sem break was go out and catch up with my favorite people in the world (see people above) - well, the ones that were free anyway. And here I thought sem break dates were universal college-wise. Bummer.
I haven’t seen these girls since college started up and it was incredibly lovely to spend time with them again. Literally, just getting to see them and hang out with them and goof off together made my break already. These girls are the absolute best. <3
